WENET works towards good Health of individuals which spontaneously translates to community Transformation; we ensure healthy lives and promote well-being, advocate for universal health coverage, and promote access to safe & effective medicines & vaccines for all at all ages; conforming to UN-SDG 3 “Good Health & Well-being”
As of 2023, Uganda had 6,937 health Facilities; rationing to at least 6,343 individuals per health Facility; the Village Health Team (VHT) personnel are directedly responsible for basic health interventions, as the first contact within the village or local community.
Health indicators for grassroot communities remains generally poor and challenged; inadequate health facilities, understaffing, long distance & transportation difficulties to nearest health Centers, bribery tendencies, informal costs, low perceived quality & persistent infant mortality.

We Know Health Is Wealth!

WENET commits to creating supportive environment for Health, and good nutritional behaviour, integrated towards improved & protected health of individuals & grassroot populations, ‘‘Enabling, Mediating & Advocating’’; collaborating with 34 individual change Agents & VHTs, key Populations, 9 youth & women community Groups & 13 Health Centers as link referrals; formed 3 school Health Fitness Clubs; and since 2022, Ayami Primary School & Saint Paul Nursery School adapted the low-cost feeding Program.
WENET employs community led approach;

*Providing basic health services & advocacy for healthy public policy; good Nutritional Food Pyramid, Immunization, mental Health & Wellness;

*Offering affordable alternative Health strategies; Medical Camps, and empowering Volunteers at last mile communities on” Where There Is No Doctor” strategy;

*Youth awareness campaigns; SRHRs, Menstrual Hygiene, and exposing risks associated with Alcohol, Drugs & Substance Abuse;

*Ensuring Services & awareness on preventable infectious Diseases & NCDs; TB, Malaria, HIV & AIDS, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, Cancers, Diabetes & Ulcers!

“WASH Is Life”

Uganda targets access to safe Water above 79% at rural & urban 95% by 2030; coverage stands at 56% as at 2024. Safe WASH in rural communities in Uganda is generally wanting with real time deadly consequences on life; 1 in 5 children under the age of 5 die of diarrheal diseases daily. WENET advocates for sustainable & equitable access to safe WASH, and campaigns against open defecation; conforms to UN-SDG 6! WENET envisions “Clean Water & Snitation”; improving human health & school attendance; contributing to livelihood, dignity, healthy environment & resilient communities; empower & organize locals, and strengthen public WASH sector;

WENET Sustaining Fair WASH Practices!

WENET embarked on WASH Agenda; fronting local communities, Schools & religious Institutions. As of 2023; we had trained 72 WASH Agents, guided 908 Girls in making personal reusable Sanitary Pads, cheap domestic Liquid Soap, Shampoo, petroleum Jelly, Shoe Polish & Candles; all from locally available materials in the Schools & community; donated 27 hand washing Cans to residents of Makenke Cell in suburbs of Jinja City; and formed 6 active School WASH Clubs; ensured construction of 1 community Pit Latrine for at Puranga in Pader District.

WENET promotes WASH practices,

*Advocating for Policy changes that lead to WASH action & their implementations, public awareness & stakeholder discussions;
*Ensuring access to safe Water; Boreholes, harvesting Rainwater, purification of domestic Water & hygienic natural Water points;
*Establishment of active School WASH Clubs & expanding network of community WASH Agents.
